Year-End, Indonesian Preference Activities During The Holiday

New year countdown is not popular anymore. Some of the Indonesian, currently, avoid the noise situation with hundreds of people waving in the street. According to the survey which was done by The Licorice, at the year-end time, they prefer to get some holidays. Let’s take a look at the survey above:

Period: December 27, 2019 〜 January 4, 2020
Respondents: 500 Indonesians, consist of 20.40% of female respondents, 78.80% of male respondents, and 0.80% of other respondents.

According to the survey, there are several activities that Indonesian normally do when new year. When asked about what they usually do, Holiday is a popular activity for Indonesian to do when new year comes. According to the survey, 74.4% of respondents stated it. 

How about the countdown moment?

Based on the data above, Indonesian not interesting anymore with new year countdown. Because only 19.4% of respondents stated it. Then, a few of them, about 6.2% of respondents stated Christmas as they usually do. Now let’s find out when the time preferences that Indonesian choose for the holiday.

Based on the chart, the most respondents answer 21 December or earlier is the top one, with 31.8% of respondents stated it. For your information, The Government gives approximately two weeks of public holiday when year-end in Indonesia, . It split into two sides. First week before Christmas and a week after Christmas. So, the best time to get a holiday is as soon as possible without waste it.

After we know that Indonesian preferably activities and times during year-end. Now, let’s find what are activities they do during holiday.

Based on the survey,  celebrate the holiday with family is the top answer. About 30.2% of respondents stated it. Praying is the second top answer that Indonesian used to when year end holiday. As we know that Indonesia is a religious country and is a plural with many religions living together with peace and equality. Somehow for some people, traveling could be the option. As we know from the chart, about 18,6% of respondents stated for a domestic holiday.

Moreover, there are two things that Indonesian usually do when the year-end comes. However is not only about the holiday but also the reflection about what has happened and what will happen next. Look at the charts:

Based on the charts, the top answer is to make a resolution. About 46.2% of respondents stated it. Indonesian think that make a resolution is one of the important activities to do when the new year comes. Indonesian feel this activity could help to make everything well planned. So maybe a motivator or a consultant is proper to give the advice.

On the other hand, the top two answers is to remember what has happened in one year. About 31,6% of respondents stated it. Commonly this activity is called contemplation.

People will recall the mistakes and promise would not do go back next year. So, usually, people need a personal helper such as a Psychologist or a Mindfulness Practioner to help reduce an emotional feeling like sadness or happiness. They also help to make people feel clear for the next year.

To Sum up, year-end activities in Indonesia not only spend with holidays like vacation or travel but also worship and quality time with-self. So it is clear that Indonesian needs a psychologist to contemplate the feeling for year resolution.
